Apple has added support for AMD Radeon RX 6000 series graphics cards in the macOS 11.4 beta.
On Wednesday, Apple released the first beta test version of macOS 11.4, adding support for the AMD RDNA 2 architecture Navi series GPUs for Intel Mac models.
In addition to Mac Pro workstations with PCIe slots, Intel MacBook laptops with Thunderbolt 3 ports can also be connected to an external graphics docking station to support AMD Radeon RX 6800/6800 XT / 6900 XT graphics cards.
GPU also supports a large number of next-generation game features, such as ray tracing and faster rendering time. Even on the Mac, these GPUs can significantly accelerate the graphics workflow or improve the gaming experience.
However, it should be pointed out that Apple has not yet enabled support for external GPUs for its M1 Mac product line. As for whether the future M series Apple Silicon will support eGPU, there is no relevant timetable at present.
