Apple's new iMac is on the way, with the M3 chip!

It's too advanced, just as the news of the iPhone 14 series appeared before the release of the iPhone 13 series, we also ushered in the news of the M3 chip before the release of Apple's M2 series chips, which is before Apple released the last M1 variant version M1 Ultra is less than two months old.

Of course, we actually know very little about the M2 chip that exists in the news, and there is no clear release timetable for the first M2 device, but it seems that Apple is already developing a third-generation chip for the Mac and iPad. Bringing new products "one after another", Apple is making great strides on the road of self-developed chips.

In the latest issue of the Power On newsletter, journalist Mark Gurman said that an iMac with an M3 chip is already in development. While it's unclear what technology this chip will use and what kind of improvements it will bring, it's interesting to note that Apple has already aimed its entry-level processor at another iMac.

At present, Gurman believes that Apple is developing several devices equipped with the M2 chip, and the chip versions of different specifications correspond to different devices.

The M2 chip is available in the new MacBook Air, entry-level MacBook Pro and Mac mini; the M2 Pro and M2 Max chips are available in the new 14-inch MacBook Pro and 16-inch MacBook Pro; and the M2 Ultra chip is available in the Mac Pro.

Gurman said the M2 chip could land as early as June, and he thinks Apple may be planning to release some new Macs in the coming months.

And about the M3 version of the iMac device, Gurman said, "I've heard that the M2 chip isn't the only chip being tested inside Apple. If you're waiting for a new iMac, I've heard that an M3 version of the desktop is already in development — — although I don't think it's going to launch until the end of next year at the earliest. Also, for those asking, I still think the iMac Pro is coming, just not anytime soon."

Independent sources have also confirmed that Apple is indeed working on all of these M2 Mac devices, and it's worth mentioning that the next iMac will likely ship directly with the M3 chip later next year, skipping the M2 chip. The only iMac currently on sale on the official website is the 24-inch version with the M1 chip released last May.
